Background

When you are attending a conference you are participating, you are not just a bum on a seat.

As with anything in which you participate, the smallest of actions can lead to the greatest of consequences.

It is not entirely true that what you get out of a conference depends on what you put into it. It is more a question of attitude.

You might not get anything for your investment of time or money if you arrive with the wrong attitude.

Your committee has been hard at work putting together a conference that has the potential to instigate far ranging changes in the lives of participants.

There are as many reasons for attending a conference as there are delegates. For everyone attends to get out of it what he or she needs or wants.

The energy each delegate receives generally can be described around the clichés:

  • Convention is an opportunity to be motivated and energised.
  • Convention is an opportunity to see parliamentary procedure at high level business meetings.
  • Convention is an opportunity to see and hear addresses from non toastmaster speakers.
  • Convention is for education, carrying out district business, picking winners in contests , entertainment and fun and social. All with a certain degree of overlap in places.
